Cosmopolitan
"Good girls go to heaven, bad girls go everywhere”
Those words can be found on a pillow in the office of Helen Gurley Brown in the Hearst building in Manhattan, New York.
After having written the book ”Sex and the single girl” (which later was the inspiration for the TV-series ”Sex and the city”), Helen Gurley Brown took over Cosmopolitan and made it the success that it still is today. With ”Sex and the single girl” and Cosmopolitan Helen played an important role in the sexual revolution by encouraging women to get a career and become financially independent. the message was that you don´t need to wait to become someone´s wife but rather be responsible for your own happiness and fulfillment.
Today there are 60 editions of Cosmopolitan, in 36 different languages in over 100 countries, which makes us the world´s largest magazine for young women and one of the best known trademarks on earth.
Much has changed since the 1960´s when Helen took charge, and each edition has unique material suitable to each country, but the soul and the message are still the same. it is our commandments that makes our trademark stand out. We always put the reader at center stage. Even when we start out in the celebrity world or on the international catwalks we always land in the reader´s own life.
Our goal is to always have close contact with the cosmo girl. She can find great pictures elsewhere but what makes her return to Cosmopolitan is its unique message: that she is wonderful and precious and that we believe in her 100 percent! In everything we do we give our reader a boost - after reading the
magazine you should feel hopeful, strong and confirmed.
